When Jehoshaphat Went to War
In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat found himself facing a terrifying battle. Three enemy armies joined forces to destroy Judah. The situation was so dire, Jehoshaphat didn’t start with military strategy—he started with a prayer meeting.
As he cried out to God, the Spirit of the Lord spoke through a prophet and said:
“Do not be afraid or discouraged… For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” – 2 Chronicles 20:15
Now watch what happens next. When it was time to face the enemy, Jehoshaphat didn’t put warriors at the front. He didn’t send his strongest soldiers or his most skilled fighters.
He sent the worship team.
“After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise Him… as they went out at the head of the army.” – 2 Chronicles 20:21
Who does that?
He literally led the army into battle with singers praising God in front. And what happened?
“As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir… and they were defeated.” – v.22
They didn’t even have to fight. The enemy destroyed itself. The only thing Judah had to do was worship.
What If Worship Is How You Win?
