The Life-Changing Equation Every Christian Needs to Understand

There’s a simple equation that can completely transform how you see your life:

Anything + God = Everything
Anything – God = Nothing

This isn’t just a leadership principle—it’s a life principle. It applies to your relationships, your work, your decisions, your struggles… everything.

The Trap We All Fall Into

Most Christians don’t intentionally leave God out. We just slowly start living life on our own strength. We say:

  • “I’ve got this.”
  • “I can figure this out.”
  • “I’ll bring God in if things get bad.”

And before we know it, we’ve built a life that looks full… but feels empty.

You can have:

  • A good job
  • A healthy family
  • A comfortable routine

…and still feel like something is missing.

That’s because God isn’t just a part of your life—He is the source of your life.

Anything – God = Nothing

Let’s break it down.

You can have success without God… but no peace.
You can have relationships without God… but no depth.
You can have achievements without God… but no fulfillment.

On the outside, it looks like something. But on the inside, it feels like nothing. Why? Because your soul was created for God. And nothing else can fill a space that was designed for Him. This is exactly what Jesus was getting at in the book of Mark.

“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” — Mark 8:36

You can gain everything the world offers…and still lose the only thing that truly matters.

Anything + God = Everything

Now here’s the good news. When you bring God into the equation, everything changes. Your situation may not instantly change…but your perspective, strength, and peace will.

  • Your work becomes purpose
  • Your struggles become growth
  • Your waiting becomes trust
  • Your life becomes meaningful

Because God doesn’t just add to your life…He transforms it.

God Is Not an Add-On—He’s the Foundation

A lot of us treat God like an add-on:

  • We add Him to Sunday
  • We add Him to hard moments
  • We add Him when we need help

But God was never meant to be something you add. He is meant to be what you build everything on. As I’ve said before, what you build your life on determines how strong your life will stand.

If God is your foundation:

  • You can withstand storms
  • You can endure challenges
  • You can walk through uncertainty with confidence

But if He’s missing…Everything eventually cracks under pressure.

How This Equation Plays Out Daily

This equation shows up in the small, everyday moments:

  • Your decisions → Are you seeking God or just reacting?
  • Your thoughts → Are they aligned with truth or driven by fear?
  • Your priorities → Is God first or just included?

It’s not about perfection. It’s about connection. Because a life connected to God is a life that works the way it was designed to.

A Simple Reality Check

Let me ask you a real question: Where in your life are you trying to do things without God?

  • Your career?
  • Your relationships?
  • Your future plans?
  • Your internal battles?

Because whatever area you remove God from…That area will eventually feel empty.

At the end of the day, this equation is simple—but it’s everything:

Anything + God = Everything
Anything – God = Nothing

You don’t need more stuff.
You don’t need more success.
You don’t need a perfect plan.

You need God in the middle of it all.

Because when He’s in it…Even the smallest life becomes a meaningful one.

Today, don’t just go through your routine. Invite God into it and watch what happens when you stop trying to live life on your own…and start living it with Him at the center.
