“Guest Blog Post” from Chris Page

Here is a guest post from Pastor Chris Page, our Senior Pastor @ Hoosier Harvest Church in Martinsville, Indiana.  Hope you enjoy his words of wisdom for us…

Nature is nice to look at.  Cool cars are fun to drive.  Urban skyscrapers are a piece of engineering wonder.  But nothing is more interesting than people.  Have you noticed some of us are crazy?  Some hilarious.  Others grouchy.  No two snowflakes….

God has packed all of our Samsonites differently.  Different personalities, different abilities.  Not wrong or right…just different.  Our uniqueness is pre-packed before we are born.  We just have to discover it.  And our uniqueness should do three things.

1) Our uniqueness should help others.  There was a guy named “Dave” who lived for himself the first 45 years of his life.  He had always been a good plumber and liked being around kids.  When Dave became a Christ-follower, God didn’t change what he was “packed with”.  Instead, for the last 20 years Dave has been helping single moms in Central America install plumbing in their humble homes, he has even done some plumbing in Rancho Cucamonga(http://www.thompsonfamilyplumbing.com/).  That’s cool.

2) Our uniqueness should announce God.  When I was 5, we were asked in kid’s church to color a picture of Jesus.  There were 7 kids in my group and only 8 crayons.  We had to color Jesus with what we had.  Jesus ended up being yellow, purple, black, and green.  All unique colors….same Jesus.  We just announced Him with what we had.

3) Our uniqueness should thrill us. We should enjoy what we do best.  Don’t look for your uniqueness from others.  God has already prepacked what makes you tick, and He’s packed you with stuff you like.

No one like you has ever lived before you, and no one like you will live after.  No two suitcases are ever packed exactly the same. You may be a chatterbox, very private, or a little spicy.  It’s all good and useful.  Final advice: Instead of wanting to be someone else, be you…it’s looks nicer on you, anyway.

Keep moving forward,

Chris

  1. I precisely neeedd to thank you very much all over again. I do not know the things I could possibly have created without the information shown by you about this subject. This was a depressing case in my circumstances, but taking a look at the expert approach you treated the issue took me to leap with joy. I’m grateful for your help and in addition wish you know what an amazing job you were getting into instructing the others via your blog. Most likely you’ve never got to know all of us.
