Want More Faith? Do This…

Luke 17:5 (NLV)

The followers said to the Lord, “Give us more faith.”

It’s appropriate to ask for more faith. In fact, we need to ask for more faith. The ancient statement from the Apostle James will stand true for all time:, “Ye have not, because ye ask not.” God pours out an extra measure of faith for those who truly want it. God tends to meet us at our level of expectation. When you ask for more faith expect for God to be faithful to grant you your request.

When you ask for faith, be willing to do whatever God says. God will not pour out more faith on you if you are not going to act on it. Asking God for faith is not just a request, it is an obedient act to do what He commands. Many people want to do what God wants them to do until they find out what He actually wants them to do. Faith will require you to do the most unlikely of things in the most unlikely of ways. Asking without obedience to act will clog the pipeline of God’s provision.

Spend time asking God for faith every day. Ask with the intention and willingness to respond to whatever He says. Oswald Chambers said, “Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.”

Never stop asking God for more. It’s the people that “know it all” that think they don’t need to ask for wisdom. But the greatest enemy of wisdom is pride; thinking you already know it all. Coach John Wooden said, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.” Faith begins when pride ends. The future gets better when we allow our faith in God to guide us there. And always remember, where God guides, He always provides. If He has called us to it, He will see us through it. His promises stand true even when the circumstances are bleak. We just need faith for the journey.
