I Hope You’re Facing Roadblocks

Here’s what I know about you…

You are facing a roadblock right now. Somehow, someway, there is something standing between you and what you want to do. How do I know this? Because we all face roadblocks on our path to greatness. In fact, if you don’t have roadblocks I would argue that you’re not moving forward in life. I hope you’re facing roadblocks because they’re actually a good sign you’re on the right path.

The roadblock may be a giant one, or it may be a subtle one, but make no mistake there is a roadblock trying to keep you from your purpose. The question is what are you going to do with it?

You see, we all face them, but not all are blocked by them. The difference is in what you do with your roadblocks. How do you respond when you are faced with one?

The Apostle Paul faced roadblocks in the early days of Christianity. He was always facing a challenge standing between him and his calling, but he learned how to deal with them. In fact, he even challenged the early church in Galatia to not stop pushing through. Check out what he said:

Galatians 5:7-12 (NCV)

7 You were running a good race. Who stopped you from following the true way? 8 This change did not come from the One who chose you. 9 Be careful! “Just a little yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise.” 10 But I trust in the Lord that you will not believe those different ideas.

When Paul said, “Who stopped you…” he was basically saying why did you allow a roadblock to stand in your way. In the same way, this encouragement still rings true today. What is stopping you from moving forward?

We have to develop what I call PERSISTENCE IN RESISTANCE. It’s the ability to persist in the midst of whatever is trying to resist you. God’s plan is not the path of least resistance. It’s actually the path of much resistance. The enemy wants to keep you from pursuing your potential. Life is not a short open sprint; it’s a marathon filled with hurdles. Remember what the Apostle James reminded us:

James 1:2-4 (NIV)

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

It’s through persistence that we experience God’s providence. Like the old saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going!” Are you spiritually tough? Are you maturing into a persevering Christ follower? I like what Michael Jordan said, “If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

No matter what you’re facing today I want to encourage you to do 4 things:

1) View Roadblocks As Indicators You’re On The Right Path

2) Don’t Run From Roadblocks, Run Right Through Them

3) Never Give Up On Your Pursuit

4) Completely Rely On The Power Of God To Get You Through Obstacles

Here is a message I did not too long ago about roadblocks…I think you need to watch it, hope it helps!
