Godfidence…Who Is Bigger?

Confidence = Your Ability

Godfidence = God’s Ability

There is a big difference between confidence and Godfidence. Confidence is about what you can do, it is man-made, however Godfidence is about what God can do, it is God-made! It is great to have confidence, and we do need it, but Godfidence is an even greater zone to live in. When we have Godfidence we are walking in His power, His ability, and His will! I love this story of a boy with confidence…

A man approached a little league baseball game one afternoon. He asked a boy in the dugout what the score was. The boy responded,

“Eighteen to nothing – we’re behind.”

“Boy,” said the spectator, “I’ll bet you’re discouraged.”

“Why should I be discouraged?” replied the boy.

“We haven’t even gotten up to bat yet.”

Godfidence is similar to this boys response, but it is about trusting in God’s ability! So the question is… “How do you get Godfidence in your life?”

1. Believe God is BIGGER than your SITUATION.

We tend to MAGNIFY our situations and shrink GOD. We need to MAGNIFY GOD and shrink our situations. It’s all about perspective. If I were to put a piece of paper directly in front of your eyes you wouldn’t be able to see anything but the paper. It would appear that the paper is HUGE blocking all your vision. The truth is the paper is tiny when you pull it away from your face. Too many times we think our situations that we are facing are huge and we can’t see past them.

Let me ask you a question…”Is the room you are in right now big or small?” Think about it…is it a big room or a small room? The answer is neither. It is neither big nor small, it only becomes big or small when you compare it to something else. The room you are in is small compared to a stadium, however it is huge compared to a small closet. The room only becomes bigger or small based on what you compare it to. The issues or situations you are facing are small compared to God greatness. They are nothing compared to God’s power and ability. Godfidence is about comparing your situations to God’s power not your own! Compared to our ability we may be facing big issues, but compared to God they are small!

The Children of Israel had a perspective problem when they made their situation bigger than their God…check this story out…

Numbers 13:1-33

The Lord said to Moses, “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders.” So at the Lord’s command Moses sent them out from the Desert of Paran. All of them were leaders of the Israelites. At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.

 Report on the Exploration

They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country;and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.”

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

 Numbers 14:1-10

That night all the members of the community raised their voices and wept aloud.  All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”

Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown in front of the whole Israelite assembly gathered there.6 Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

But the whole assembly talked about stoning them.

WOW! The people saw their situation way bigger than they saw God’s power. However Caleb was able to see God’s power as bigger than anything they could face. So the challenge today is to see God as bigger than anything you are facing! Don’t allow your situation to become bigger than the power of God that is at work within you! When you see God as bigger than anything you will face, you will begin to have Godfidence fill your life and you will begin to see greater things happen in and through you!
