Biblical Affirmations That Will Change You

Declaring affirmations about yourself in terms of who you are in Christ is POWERFUL.

I truly believe that if we did this more often we would undoubtedly have less depression, anxiety, and fear running through this world. It is vital that we establish our identity in Christ. In fact, the enemy is attacking the world with an identity crisis. People don’t know who they are or who they want to be…literally. We are throwing around pronouns, labels, and all kinds of confusing terms that are causing people to lose their identity. We have more psychological disorders and stress than we’ve ever had in our world. Counselors are the busiest they have ever been in the industry with people who are disillusioned. Certainly, there are real challenges that are caused by chemical and neurological problems, but we have to be proactive about understanding the truth of who we are.

Too many people wake up speaking death and destruction over their life without even knowing it. We say things like:

  • I’m so fat
  • I’m so ugly
  • Uhh…these clothes don’t fit anymore
  • I can’t remember anything to save my life
  • There’s always a problem!
  • The world is going crazy
  • This is too much to handle
  • I’m going to go mad
  • People drive me crazy
  • I can’t ever seem to get ahead
  • Nothing ever goes right does it
  • etc…

We need to change our talk and self-talk to reflect life and faith. This is not burying your head in the sand stuff, this is simply rewiring your brain to look at the positive and embrace joy. Dr. Caroline Leaf, a Christian cognitive neuroscientist said, “It has been found that 12 minutes of daily focused prayer over an 8-week period can change the brain to such an extent that it can be measured on a brain scan. This type of prayer increases activity in brain areas associated with social interaction, compassion, and sensitivity to others. It also increases frontal lobe activity as focus and intentionality increase. As well as changing the brain, another study implies that intentional prayer can even change physical matter.”

Daily prayer/affirmations can literally alter your brain function and bring focus to your spiritual life. This is something we have to take seriously and utilize as God intended.

Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
