Caffeinated Christianity

Do you ever feel like you’re destined for so much more than you’re currently experiencing? Like you haven’t yet become all you’re meant to be?

Sure, some days, you’re in the zone, doing exactly what you were created to do, but other days you feel like you’re stuck in the mire of life. The truth is we all wrestle between these two realities. Why is it that some people find their way out of the muck and into the flow of purpose, while others can’t seem to lift their feet out of the sludge? What if I told you that there is a way for you to live in the sweet spot of God’s design? What if there were keystone traits to live by that could take your life to a whole new level? I have good news: there are!

There are two kinds of people in this life: those who grow and thrive and those who merely try to survive. I know you want to be counted among those who are thriving. That is why you are reading this blog now. Congratulations on taking the next step in your journey to living a victorious life! I have no doubt God will honor your commitment to become all He has planned for you. Charles M. Schwab said, “When a man has put a limit on what he will do, he has put a limit on what he can do.”

As I sit here, writing in this coffee shop, there is a sign above my head which reads, “Behind every successful person there is a substantial amount of coffee.” My Caramel Brûlée Latte and I agree. I like a good shot of espresso as much as the next person, and we have businessman Luigi Bezzera to thank for it; he was the inventor of espresso. It all started in 1903 while he was tinkering away with his coffee pot, trying to find a faster way to make coffee. Bezzera owned a manufacturing business and was frustrated by the time-consuming process of brewing his coffee at home each morning. He wanted a way to get quick, powerful shots of coffee for himself and his employees. Ultimately, he invented the espresso machine. Fast-forward in time, and now we can brew a high-powered espresso in seconds to get our caffeinated shot of energy. (No wonder people mistakenly pronounce it ex-presso, rather than es-presso.)

For many coffee lovers, the sign above my head rings true, but the real “stuff” behind a successful life is much more than coffee. The real stuff is a strong shot of Jesus. In the same way Bezzera created a high-powered shot of espresso, we need to be intentional about living a high-octane, Spirit-filled version of Christianity. We’re not talking decaf here. Decaf coffee looks, smells, and even tastes somewhat like the real thing, but it doesn’t have the strength to keep you going. In the same way, decaf Christianity misses the fullness of God’s power for your life. God never intended for us to live the decaf life. His Spirit empowers us to live a high-octane adventure with Him. And His Word gives us specific instructions to maximize our experience here on Earth––keystone traits for us to live by.

When you discover the most important traits to live by you’ll accelerate your life and caffeinate your spiritual energy. That’s why I wrote my new book LIFE IS SIMPLE, IT’S JUST NOT EASY, to help you maximize your life on earth. I hope you’ll get a copy and start a great journey of becoming all you’re capable of.
