Fortify Your Mind – Winning the Battle Within
You want to know where the real battle begins?
It’s in your mind.
Before you bleed in the water, before your attitude sours or your words fall apart—it all starts with a single thought. That’s where the enemy swims first.
Pastor and author Craig Groeschel said, “If you don’t control your thoughts, your thoughts will control you and lead you away from the truth.”
You can’t afford to let your mind wander into dangerous waters. The sharks are already circling.
Your Thoughts Will Either Trap You or Transform You
Romans 8:6 says, “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
Think about that. When your thoughts are led by fear, pride, comparison, anxiety—that’s the flesh. That’s death. But when your mind is governed by the Spirit, peace comes. Perspective shifts. Strength rises.
That’s the difference between Shark Weak and Shark Proof.
Jesus Was Tempted in the Wilderness—So Will You Be
Satan tempted Jesus when He was alone and hungry in the desert (Matthew 4). Why then? Because when your mind is tired, wandering, or weak—that’s when the enemy strikes.
So what did Jesus do? He fought back with truth. With Scripture. He didn’t argue—He stood firm in what He knew was true.
Capture Every Thought—Don’t Let It Capture You
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
You don’t have to entertain every thought that enters your mind. Take it captive. Line it up with the truth of God’s Word. If it doesn’t fit? Evict it.
Here’s the test:
- Is this thought bringing me closer to God or pulling me away?
- Is this fear speaking or faith?
- Is this God’s voice or my insecurities?
Think On These Things
Philippians 4:8 gives us the filter: “Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
When you direct your mind to these things, you close the door to chaos. The sharks can’t feast when your thoughts are filled with truth.
Final Encouragement: You Don’t Have to Be Shark Bait
Not in your attitude.
Not in your words.
Not in your mind.
You were never designed to bleed out in the water. You were created to walk on it with Jesus.
Guard your attitude.
Watch your words.
Fortify your thoughts.
And the next time the enemy circles, he’ll find a faith too strong to feed on.
