Why You Might Be Spiritually Stagnant

We will grow to the size that our faith will allow us. Where our faith runs out is where our limits begin. One will never grow beyond their level of faith. So to grow your opportunities, you must grow your faith.

If you are not growing, then you are not going anywhere. Wise people grow themselves, and they never stop seeking. The other day my daughter Zion said, “When I grow up, I want to be a kid.” What a great outlook to have. Kids are always growing and seeking because they love to explore. Jesus said we need to have a child-like faith. Kids treat the world as their playground. Our two little girls amaze me with their ability to turn an empty room into an amusement park in their minds. They can turn the bathtub into an ocean. They can turn the bed into a spaceship that takes them on a joy ride across the galaxy. Kids are innovative dreamers who are not limited by their environment.

As a kid, Walt Disney drew faces on his flowers during an art class. When the teacher informed him that flowers do not have faces, he responded: “Mine do” Walt Disney was a dreamer who never stopped dreaming. As a result of his dreams, Disney has become one of the largest and most successful companies on the planet.

There is a temptation to stop growing when we get older. Exploration turns into apathy, and we cease to step out in faith. Sometimes, we think we have “arrived” at our destination and we stop pursuing growth. But understand, we are never to stop growing in our faith and knowledge in Christ. The more we grow, the more we are able to discern God’s voice, His plans, and His purpose for our lives. In order for our faith to grow, we have to feed ourselves God’s Word and His promises.

Colossians 1:10

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.

Grow to your potential by surrounding yourself with challenging opportunities that will draw out your God-given abilities.
