The Purpose of Grace

As Christians, we often hear about the concept of forgiveness being a significant aspect of God’s grace. While forgiveness is undoubtedly a crucial part of God’s grace, it is essential to recognize that His grace extends far beyond just this singular dimension.

Grace is about empowerment. Grace empowers us to fulfill God’s purpose in our lives. God’s plan for our lives goes beyond just forgiving us; it’s about calling us to live out our destiny as well. Forgiveness is a means to an end, not the end in itself. Forgiveness provides us with what we need to step out into our God-given potential and live out our full destiny.

We must understand that the purpose of grace is to do something with our life, not just be forgiven. Just like a purpose statement that an organization may have that involves a to/so framework so grace is in our lives. To/So Purpose Statements are designed to help us figure out the real meaning behind what we do.

Here are some examples of organizations’ purpose statements:

A Tech organization may say:

To innovate cutting-edge technologies so that we revolutionize the way people communicate.

A Medical organization may say:

To develop breakthrough medical treatments so that we can improve and extend human lives.

Notice the to/so statements? The Tech organization is not just innovating cutting-edge technologies, its full purpose is to revolutionize the way people communicate. The Medical organization does not exist just to develop medical treatments but ultimately to improve and extend human lives.

In the same way, God’s grace is to forgive us of our sins…so that we can live out our full calling!

God’s grace is more than just the forgiveness of our sins; it is empowering, equipping us with everything needed to fulfill the calling placed upon our lives. As we receive grace, we become more confident, courageous, and willing to take risks, knowing that God is with us every step of the way. Through His guidance, we can be sure that we are moving in the right direction, and through the reminder of His unconditional love, we find the motivation and inspiration needed to keep pushing forward.
