The Creative Endeavor

Creativity is essential for living a successful life. One will never reach their full potential without an element of creativity and innovation.

Now, you might be saying, “But I’m not a creative person!” Well, let me push back on you and say, “That is a lie!” You see, you were created by a creative God and you are made in His image, so…you are creative by design. Creative people aren’t just artists, musicians, and poets…they are anyone who is able to do what they do efficiently and effectively. The biggest lie you can tell yourself is that you’re not creative. It is a limiting belief that will suppress your God-given abilities. It doesn’t matter what you do…you can do it creatively.

Here are some thoughts on being a creative person and embracing innovation on your creative endeavor:

1) Be Curious

Wake up every day with a thirst to learn more. The moment you stop growing is the moment you start dying. Highly successful people are consumed with a desire to know more. In fact, your success is in direct proportion to your curiosity. The more curious you become, the greater opportunities you will create. Always have a beginners mindset. Every day presents itself with seeds of opportunity that can one day grow into mighty possibilities. Don’t miss out on learning something new every day that will one day open up an opportunity for you to maximize on.

Part of my growth plan is to read every morning Monday – Friday. It is amazing to see how many opportunities I am able to apply throughout the day from what I learned earlier in my reading time. It seems as if there is always something that I needed in my day from the content I absorbed from the book I read.

2) Be Conversational

Learn from as many people as you can. Creative people love to learn from others. They love to talk about how to do things better. If you want to get better you have to get around better people. Find those that are doing what you want to do and observe them. Find people that can challenge you and communicate with them. The more you can talk through ideas the more you can learn and grow. We process as we talk so make sure you don’t become silent on your creative journey. No one ever reached their full potential on their own. It always takes others to help us get better and become all we are capable of becoming.

3) Be Careful

Wasted time can steal your creativity. Don’t sit around and do nothing all the time. Get going and be a liver of life. Try new things, explore opportunities, create experiences. The more you can rev your innovative engine the further you can go. Be careful not to squander your potential. Too many people are wasting their giftings because they’re waiting for life to happen. But life doesn’t just happen…it is pursued. You have to get motivated and see the potential for something greater in the future in order to experience it. Never settle…the moment you settle for average is the moment you surrender your potential for greatness.
