Christmas Thoughts…

Christmas is almost here! Just a few days away…it is truly my most favorite time of the year, after all, our family decorates in mid October so we have been in Christmas mode for a while now. But then again, I guess we should be in Christmas mode all year round, 24/7. And that is the point of this post.

The birth of our Savior was the birth of our eternity. How amazing is it that God chose to give His one and only Son to pay the price for our sins. It is incredible that Jesus was delivered as a baby. Why didn’t God just send a fully-grown, mature man as our savior? Why choose to deliver Him as a child? Yet, God sent His Son to become like us so that He could die for us. Jesus identified with our suffering and our humanity being both fully God, and fully man. He became as we are in order to fully take on all we have.

Here are some things to think about when you think upon Christmas this year…

1. God GAVE His Son

It is in God’s nature to GIVE. He gave us the ultimate gift one could receive…a way for salvation. As a follower of Christ are you a GIVER? Do you give as Christ gave? Do you give of what you have in order to enable another? There are many ways we can give albeit through finances, time, love, forgiveness, labor, possessions, etc… Always remember this…LOVE GIVES. We are blessed to be a blessing to others.

2. Jesus Had To RELY On His Parents As A Baby

Since Christ came into this world as a baby you can assume He needed someone to help him eat, crawl, walk, and some diaper changes (or whatever they used back then). The point is…don’t be so proud that you refuse help from others. Understand that we all need support from other people in order to fully grow into all God has called us to be. It’s ok to go through seasons where you rely on others for help. Never take advantage of people, but by all means don’t steal a blessing from those that want to bless you. When you refuse help from someone you may be robing their chance to be blessed for helping you. Sometimes we go through challenges in life where we need to lean on others for strength…it’s ok. If Jesus relied on others at one point, I think it is ok for us as well.

3. God’s Gifts Come In SMALL Packages

God gifted us with a small package (Jesus) that had a huge purpose. Never underestimate small beginnings and small opportunities. It’s the small things that grow into giant possibilities. Many times God gives us gifts in small seed-like packages. It is up to us to grow them, develop them, and use them for His glory. The more we use them, the more it grows, and the more it grows, the more it makes a difference.

Luke 16:10

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

Take what God has given you and grow it into something special. Don’t be consumed by what you don’t have, be grateful for what you do have.
