You Are A MYOUSICIAN – Part 1

You Are a Musician (Even If You’ve Never Touched an Instrument)

Let me ask you a question that might catch you off guard: Did you know that you are a musician?

Now, before you laugh or scroll past this article thinking, “John, I can’t play a single note, let alone carry a tune,”—hold up for just a second. I’m not saying you’ve got to master the guitar, rock the drums, or play Beethoven on the piano to be a musician. No, I’m telling you something much deeper.

You are a M-Y-O-U-S-I-C-I-A-N.

That’s right. YOU are a musician because your life is an instrument, and every day you’re playing it. Whether it’s beautiful or off-key, well-orchestrated or chaotic, depends entirely on who you’re playing for and how you’re playing it.

Let’s unpack this together and tune into what God’s Word says about the music of your life.

Your Life Is an Instrument

Romans 6:13 says: “Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God… as an instrument of righteousness.”

That’s powerful. The Apostle Paul doesn’t say your life might be an instrument—he says it is. The only question is what kind of music is coming out of it. Whether you realize it or not, every choice you make, every word you speak, every action you take—it all adds up to a song that’s playing to the world around you. Your attitude, your habits, your integrity, your faith—it’s all music.

And here’s the kicker: You are the musician.

You have the ability to offer your life as a beautiful melody of righteousness, or as a broken, off-beat noise played to the rhythm of self-centeredness, fear, or sin.

Worship Went First in the Bible

Music isn’t just a metaphor. It’s a powerful tool of warfare in Scripture. Go back to the Old Testament—think about how God would send out the musicians and worshipers on the front lines of battle.

Wait, what?

Yep. While the enemy lined up with swords and spears, God’s people marched out with tambourines, trumpets, and praise. Why? Because praise changes the atmosphere. Worship welcomes the presence of God, and when God shows up, the enemy has to flee.

In 2 Chronicles 20:21-22, we read that King Jehoshaphat appointed singers to go before the army. And guess what? As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemies.

Praise isn’t weak—it’s warfare.

Worship isn’t optional—it’s strategic.

If God trusted the worshipers to lead into battle, what does that say about the music your life is making?

The Music You Make Matters

There’s a reason we use the phrase “battle axe” to describe an electric guitar. There’s a reason certain songs stir us to tears or fuel our courage. Music is powerful, and your life is more musical than you know.

Even science backs this up. Certain frequencies can literally shift emotions, trigger memories, and even affect physical responses. From sirens that hypnotized sailors in ancient mythology to the subtle tones in movie soundtracks that make your heart race—music moves us.

In the same way, the “frequency” of your life moves others. You’re sending out a song to your family, your workplace, and your community. Are you bringing peace or confusion? Hope or fear? Love or cynicism?

Here’s the truth: Your life is either echoing the harmony of heaven or the static of the world.

Even God Sings Over You

Don’t miss this.

Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord your God is with you… He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Wow. The Creator of the universe doesn’t just watch you from afar—He rejoices over you with singing. God sings over you like a proud Father watching His child perform on stage.

You are not just a background noise in His story. You are a lead instrument in His orchestra.

Play It Right

Let me ask you: If your life is an instrument, and you’re the musician—what kind of music are you playing?

Are you playing to the rhythm of bitterness or joy? Are your strings out of tune with stress and fear? Or are you waking up every day saying, “Lord, take my life and make music with it.”

The truth is, we were created to make music—spiritual music with our lives. Not everyone will hear it, but it doesn’t matter. You’re not playing for the applause of the crowd. You’re playing for the One who gave you the instrument.

In Tune or Out of Whack?

And if you’re feeling out of tune today—if your life feels like noise instead of a melody—take heart. It’s never too late to recalibrate, retune, and realign with God.

Start your day with praise. Let the Word of God be your sheet music. Let the Holy Spirit be your conductor. And above all, offer every part of your life—your time, your talents, your treasures- as an instrument of righteousness.

Final Note: It’s Your Gig—Play it Well

You might not ever play a concert on a stage. You might never record a single note. But don’t let that fool you. Every single day of your life is a performance—not for fame, but for faith. You get one life. One instrument. One gig.

So play your heart out.

Let your life sing a song of worship, grace, and bold righteousness. And when the day is done, may you look back and say: “I gave it my all. I played the notes God gave me. And I made some beautiful music for my King.”
