A Walk Down Humility Rd.

Matthew 23:12

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

God honors the humble. He lifts them up to a higher place of favor and provision. You see, God’s economy and plans are backwards to what we are taught in the “world.”  The world says in order to be number one, you have to beat everyone else to get there. And to be on top you have to climb over others. But God’s system is totally different.

  • He says, “The first shall be last.”
  • He says, “The meek will inherit the earth.”
  • He says, “The humble will rise to the top.”

God’s ways are much higher than our ways. His ways are different than our ways. If we want to see God’s plans unfold in our life we have to live humbly. We have to live with a spirit of humility in all we do.

What is humility? I believe humility is realizing that you are nothing without God, yet you are everything with Him. It is about taking ourselves out of first place and putting God in it. Humility is giving God all the glory and honor for ALL things. It is about surrendering to His control and His sovereignty. We may not understand everything that happens to us, but we can trust that God understands it all, and that is a comforting place. Not a comfortable place, but a comforting place. It’s not comfortable to turn the cheek when we want to retaliate. It is not comfortable to hold our tongue when we are being slandered. It is not comfortable to step out in faith into uncharted territory. It is not comfortable to give up our pride and become a servant. It is not comfortable to let go of our fear and allow faith to guide us. God’s plans aren’t always comfortable, but they are comforting. His plans are about positioning us in the right place, at the right time, for the right reasons. God will send His supernatural provision when we get to a place of humility, surrendering to His timing and leading.

I have heard it said that humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. When we place God as first place in our life we always win. We will ALWAYS see His provision and favor clearing the way for our future. Humility is not the easy road. In fact, humility is the harder road to travel, but rest assure it leads to a greater place in the end. And I don’t just mean when our life is over in Heaven. Humility will be a blessing here on earth as well. Those who walk rightly and pure are those who will experience all of God’s plans for their life. Trust in this promise as you humble yourself, and remember God has the final say, not the circumstances. When you walk down Humility Rd. you will end up in the destiny God has designed for you.

Psalm 84:11

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

  1. I love how you look at things and give a different perspective on how we should look at things and deal with things that come our way in our lives. It helps me re look at some of the things that surround me in my life.
