Inspiration Is The Pathway To Innovation

3 ways to get more inspiration in your life

Inspire: (verb) to encourage somebody to greater effort, enthusiasm, or creativity: to awaken a particular feeling in somebody [Latin-inpirare “to breath”]

Inspiration births creativity. All art is an expression of inspiration. Art has to originate somewhere. The most creative people are the most inspired people. Wether that inspiration comes from joy & strength or hurt & pain it will be conceived through something inspirational. And yes, I do believe hurt & pain can be inspirational, in the sense that it awakens a particular feeling that causes one to do something.

So you want to be more creative, then how do you do it? The answer…is to be inspired. No one creates greatness from apathy and routine. We create greatness from living and experiencing. The more you can create a life of movement, the more you will boost your creative expression. You MUST find ways to be INSPIRED if you want to innovate.

Here are 3 ways to get more inspiration in your life…

1. Find what you are PASSIONATE about

You will only create greatness in the areas of your passion. If you are not inspired to do something you won’t do it well…you may do it…but you won’t do it well. We are only truly successful in the areas of our passion; the things we were created to do. So what makes you tick? What makes you feel alive? What consumes your thoughts when you are daydreaming? What grips your heart? The answer to these questions will help you identify the areas that you will be inspired by.

2. Surround yourself with THINGS that inspire you

If you want inspiration get around inspirational stuff! Surround yourself with inspirational people. Engulf yourself with books that inspire you. Go to places that spark your creativity. Know thyself in order to inspire thyself. Do some soul searching and ask yourself what things, people, experiences, or places make you come alive. When you know the answer you are one step closer to making sure you surround yourself with it. Many people never spark their creative expression because they are surrounded by things that kill their innovation. Many people go to a specific place when they want to be creative because they know the environment will inspire them. Don’t hope to create great stuff in bad places. When Pixar creates movies they send their teams to experience real life situations that inspire them. For example when they made Ratatouille, they sent their team to France to study chefs, kitchens, restaurants, and even how rats operate. When they made Finding Nemo, they sent their teams on scuba diving expeditions to study the ocean life. When they made The Princess And The Frog, they sent their teams to New Orleans for weeks to study the transportation, smells, lighting in the streets, food, swamps, etc…

3. Stretch your box and EXPERIENCE life

Inspiration can come from the most unlikely places you may have never anticipated. This is why it is important to push yourself to experience things outside of your comfort box. Get involved in situations and opportunities that will stretch your awareness. You can never improve or learn something if it is out of your current level of awareness. And the only way to improve or learn is to become aware of new things in order to embrace them. This means you cannot keep doing what you’ve always done, or guess what…yes, you know…you will always get what you’ve always gotten. To break out into new levels of creativity it will require you to risk your comfort of familiarity and step beyond your invisible boundaries. Do something you’ve never done.
