Innovation Gets Old

Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
Practicality can be the greatest enemy to Possibility. It’s not that it is the enemy, but it can become the enemy if not harnessed correctly. Practicality is either an asset or a liability. It becomes a liability when it overtakes our creative ability to dream and innovate. Practicality can easily slip into comfort which eats away our faith for the future. It is an ally when it helps us achieve our dreams, but not when it keeps us from our dreams.
I have met many people that are grounded so deep in practicality that anything beyond their awareness becomes unpractical and absurd to them. Their fear hides behind the disguise of being a realist. They use words like, “I’m just real” or “Sorry, I’m just a practical thinker.” The truth is their lack of belief in possibilities has been hardened by bad experiences or let downs. The older we get the less adventurous we can become. Our creative possibilities become cold to the ear and dull to the senses. We then feel like we need to be the voice of reason. But we were never created to lose our adventure and innovation in life. We were created in the image of a MASTER builder God Almighty. It is in His DNA and ours to create, build, and expand. God is not limited and neither should our imaginations and dreams be limited.
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you came from, or what you do…you were created with the ability to achieve anything the mind can conceive. It is only our thinking that limits us. I often say to audiences I speak to, “The only limit you have is the belief you have one.” In order to keep our possibilities open and our lives fresh is to become like a child again. Jesus said this in Matthew 18:3
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus is making a statement about the way we think and live. Kids are dreamers and have no limits. The only limits they create are the ones they are told to have. Pablo Picasso also said, “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” Children have a stronger faith in the future than any adult ever will. The Kingdom must be filled with child-like individuals who have the faith and innovation to believe all things are possible. Innovation gets old unless you keep it fresh and alive.
So my challenge to us today is to become like a child again. Here are some starting tips…

1. Stop Putting Limits On Yourself

2. Start Exploring Possibilities Again

3. Enjoy Every Ounce Of Life Again
