4 Ways To Be A More Creative Person

Creative

The word creative applies to EVERY area of life. Creativity is what makes us human. To say you are not a creative person, is to deny the limitless possibilities within you. We were created to be creative. Everyone is creative at something. And every something had someone that created it. The more creative you are the more possibilities you have. Think about it…

  • The more creative you are in your marriage, the better relationship you will have with your spouse.
  • The more creative you are in your business, the more impact and income you will generate.
  • The more creative you are at your job, the more valuable you are, and the more you raises you will get.
  • The more creative you are with your health, the more energy and life you will have.
  • The more creative you are with your finances, the more opportunity you have to make it, spend it, save it, and give it away.
  • The more creative you are with your skills, the more opportunities will open up for you.

Creativity is a necessity for a productive life. So how do you become more creative?

1. Stop Saying You’re Not Creative

The first step to becoming more creative is to stop suppressing your potential by believing you are not creative. You will never attempt something if you don’t believe you can do it. Creativity starts with a belief in your potential. If you don’t believe you have potential you will never be as creative as you could be.

2. Start Trying New Things

Step out of the box and try new ideas out. You cannot improve a result until you get a result. This means you must do something before you can learn how to do it and improve upon it. You cannot improve something you are unaware of. Start taking little steps to do things differently and test new ideas out so you can learn and grow to get better.

3. Stop Wasting Your Time

The greatest enemy of creativity is wasted time. Don’t waste precious time on non-precious things. Creativity takes intentionality. Wasting time watching too much T.V., sleeping, daydreaming, lounging, and surfing Facebook will kill your productivity. Notice I didn’t don’t do those things…just don’t do it too much. Make sure you use your time wisely, you only get it once.

4. Start Reading More

The most creative people are veracious readers…that is a fact. If you want to grow your opportunities fill your mind with important resources that will enable you to perform better. Read books about the things you want to get better at and the things you want to be known for. There is no better way to be a more creative person than to fill yourself with wisdom. Creative sparks fly when you are surrounded by resources that help you grow.

  1. John,

I appreciate how you allow your creativity to inspire others to explore what God has graciously given them. And you are someone who doesn’t just box themself into one area or even age group. Not Johnny Boy! You set the creativity example experiences through meaningful worship, life-changing teaching, dramas, videos, special effects, scenery, games, and so much more.

But John I would like to thank you for not only the time that you give to pouring into these listed items, but each of the lives that are impacted from it. Whether that is someone dropping to their knees broken to the Lord in prayer after hearing a powerful teaching, or a member of tech team that is needing encouragement with a new program that is being used, preparing practices for the worship teams that allow them to honor the Lord and praise Him without performing with the talents that He gave to them, and the lust for how you impact could go on and on!

John, you are a great role model to MANY in these areas. Thank you for being a Christian leader who walks out what he is teaching 24/7. That is seldom seen in our world today unfortunately.

May HE continue to bless you, Erin and your adorable girls in the days ahead. I would like to encourage you to take each of them on separate one-on-one dates with you each month and post about it. I have a pastor friend in Michigan who is doing it and takes a picture and posts it on fb and this is catching on. And he uses a lot of non-expensive experiences! 🙂
