Your Creative Time

2 tips to help you set aside time

Do you set aside time to be creative? I have found that most people don’t intentionally make time to be creative. They talk about it, hope to be, wait for the inspiration to hit them, but never make it happen. Therefore they remain bound in their limited possibilities.

If you want to break out into new levels of creativity and ideas for your business, organization, family, life, etc… you HAVE to set aside time to THINK!

Here are 2 tips that will help you set aside creative time…

1. Protect Your Best Time

We all have a creative peak during the course of a day. The moment when we operate at our best in terms of thinking. First you need to know when it is, then you need to PROTECT the block of time! That is right protect your best time so you don’t waste it doing something else less important. Thinking during your best time will give you the greatest return on your time. Most people completely over look their best creative time and fill it with other tasks that could be done anytime. Your creative block of time during the day is your most valuable asset in terms of planning & brainstorming, protect it.

2. Know What You Want To Create

Have a running list of things you need to be creative in. The last thing you want to do when you have set aside time to think is to not have any thing to think about or worse be so overwhelmed that you think about everything and get nothing accomplished. Stay in one train of thought for your thinking time. This means pick a subject, task, project, etc… and stay with it for the whole time. Have a plan when you are going into your planning time. A great plan will give you great rewards in your block of time. Remember what Einstein said, “It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”
